Gokul-Shirgaon Industrial Area is situated on National Highway 4 and is 15 km from Kolhapur city. This area is close to the Karnataka State boundary and to Goa also.
MIDC started developing 219.06 hectares of this industrial area in 1979-80. Presently, all the infrastructural facilities are ready and about 824 small and medium sized plots are carved out, which includes 520 industrial plots, 61 commercial plots, 32 amenities plots, and 92 small Plots (shops and stalls, etc). Of which 793 plots have already been allotted; 03 Commercial plots and 09 other plots are available for allotment. Industrial plots are not available for allotment. This area is well planned and most of the units are in production.
Water: MIDC has commissioned a combined water supply scheme Dudhganga river as a source of water supply capacity of 8 MLD. Present consumption is 4 MLD. Roads: The industrial area lies on Mumbai-Bangalore national highway 4, and Kolhapur-Panjim, Ratnagiri- Nagpurand many other state highways. This area is well connected by a road network; besides the Ratnagiri and Panjim (Goa) ports are close by to facilitate sea transport. All internal roads within industrial area are asphalted.
Connectivity: An electronic exchange has been provided within the area and is well connected with ISD, STD, the Internet network with all other modern facilities. Residential Facilities: This area is 15 km from Kolhapur city and residential facilities are available in the vicinity of the area and in Kolhapur city itself. Electricity :A separate sub station of 5 MVA capacity and a Central Power Grid is available on the Estate. Adequate power supply is available.
